A Little about myself... Is a BIG question. I’m John Conlon, 17, nearly 18 in Feb. I live in the small inconvenient sea side town of Southport in the north west of England. Southport has always made me feel limited since I have been old enough to know that I wanted to get out and make something of myself. This has led me to Art College and now, University. I am currently studying a two year Art & Design Course and have recently specialised in Graphic Design. I do a lot of drawings and various other art pieces in my spare time which I usually start through the inspirational drive of the books I read, films I watch and music I listen to. I tend to find when I am inspired by something I get a feeling that grips me and channels constant thoughts about this one thing, and I’ll want to express it immediately through the nearest creative outlet. I get really excited when I’m given a brief because I feel like I will be able to grab it, take it apart and put it back together with my own aspects spilled all over it. I get twice as excited thinking about writing my own brief because this allows me to experiment with certain styles and areas that I might not have thought to look at on a brief designed for me. I have loved the whole college experience and found it both challenging and very informative. I think being within the Art & Design course I have been able to know exactly what I like and don’t and which road to now take. I feel like I started off my first year of college somewhat in the dark as a creative and have emerged with such a drive for improvement and a self built work ethic. Hope you enjoy my work.
